Boca Juniors Plans to Expand La Bombonera Stadium

Juan Román Riquelme, president of Boca Juniors, committed during his electoral campaign to expand the "La Bombonera" stadium. According to preliminary information, the project would be taking shape with an increase in capacity to 80 thousand spectators, a modification of the playing field's height, and the addition of a fourth tier.

The club would already have the necessary funds to initiate the work, which could be announced in the coming months with the aim of starting in 2026. The demolition of the boxes is proposed to allow construction over Dr. del Valle Iberlucea street, with the playing field moving to the opposite side.

The absence of protection as a heritage of the city of Buenos Aires would allow these modifications to be carried out at La Bombonera. The Football Council, led by Riquelme, now has a clear path to push this ambitious project forward.

In radio statements, Riquelme expressed his desire for the city to support the growth of the stadium: "We want to do something to make it bigger, and hopefully, the City of Buenos Aires will support us at that moment."
